State of South India -- Kerala Beaches
Kovalam Beach Tours

Kovalam beach is located at a small distance of just 16 kilometres from Kerala's capital of Thiruvananthapuram. Infact, along the 600 kilometre length of the Kerala coast, there are numerous big and small beaches. But Kovalam stands apart from the others for its breathtaking beauty, sunset cruises and watersports. The beach is well visited by both domestic and foreign tourists. The Kovalam village nearby has many small scale industries.

Accommodation and Connectivity :
At the outset, it must be mentioned that Kovalam is the only beach resort of Kerala. Being very close to Trivandrum, accommodation and transportation are not a problem at all.

More feasible would be to find a comfortable nest in Trivandrum itself and make the 10 minutes journey from the capital for a refreshing break. But for those who find the sea breeze intoxicating, good lodging and food as also available near the beach.

Beach Attractions

The Lighthouse Beach
There are three successive small crescent beaches in Kovalam. The southern most beach known as the Lighthouse Beach is most popular among the visitors. The lighthouse at the southern tip of the beach provides a mesmerizing view upto the distant horizon where the Vizhinjam mosque is located. Surprisingly, photography is prohibited here.

The Beach Market

Lining the beach are a variety of small and colourful shops selling small handloom and handicraft items. The merchandise is small but exquisite and mainly of Tibetan, Kashmiri and Rajasthani origin. Many yoga schools and massage parlours have also mushroomed in the beach. .

The Beach Sports
Visitors also indulge in many fun activities at the beach. They include swimming and sunbathing, kayaking, surfing, skiing, scuba diving sailing,

yatching and windsurfing.

Those interested in angling can go in for deep sea fishing in the area. The daredevils can go in for parasailing at the sea. Well trained lifeguards keep a close eye on the tourists reducing risks of accidents to a bare minimum.

The Merry Cruises
Visitors are also taken on a Catamaran cruise in a country raft. The local fishermen also take tourists on a sunrise and sun set cruise in their fishing boats. Surfboards and boogie boards are also available on the beach for hiring.

The Kovalam air is always filled with fun and laughter. Cynics might say that it is a crowded beach. But for lovers of fun and sports, it is an absolute paradise
